Gives brief history and current structure of the educational system in China. One chapter explains how the Ministry of Education functions and describes national exams and budgets. Large section deals with educational exchanges between China and the United States and the future of such programs. Lists various institutions and their locations in 13 appendixes.

 

Includes a map of China and an official agreement between United States' institutions and the Chinese institution with which they exchange students.

 

Appendix of PINYIN Romanization may be of interest to linguists. Includes pronunciation guide to common Chinese surnames and traditional names of provinces and major cities of China.
