| Summary | |
|
"One week last October, our three literacy teachers and I were distributing several hundred pounds of beans and corn to widows and to mothers of the children who attend our Cotzal Ixil literacy classes. Along with the beans and corn, we gave out a Cotzal pamphlet, one of a series of 10 on the life of Christ. The tract caught the eye of some of the public school children who had just begun their year-end break. Most of these school children had just finished fourth, fifth, or sixth grade. They asked me for some of the pamphlets. I said sure, if they could show me that they could read. So I tested them on the spot using the pamphlets." | |
