Deciding the size of a book

 

Introduction
 

Books can be made in many sizes, from small enough to fit in a pocket to big enough to be seen by a large group.

 

The size of a book may depend on

 
  • available paper
  • available funds
  • the people for whom the book is intended
  • the purpose of the publication, and
  • the way it will be used.
Guidelines
 

Here are some guidelines to follow when you decide the size of a book:

 
  • Use standard paper sizes, especially if you are not having a print shop do the job.

  • Remember that a finished book will probably be trimmed, making it slightly smaller than the original paper size.
